The One About Someone Out There Finally Gets It!

I'm a techno junkie, but being a poor techno junkie I'm pretty much restricted to reading and salivating about the latest gadgets to come down the pike. However just because I don't own a lot of these high end, and rather expensive things doesn't mean that I don't pay attention to what is going on as regards their development.

The One About The Next Time You Think State Government Is Automatically Superior To Federal Government Look At The Income Tax Forms.

Before I begin this article I'd like to congratulate myself for the longest title in The One About...'s short but self-important history. And now moving right along...

Serendipity is a funny thing. Sometimes it amazes me how something that I will say or be thinking will have an echo in the press be it the mainstream media, or opinion journalism.

The One About I Don't Want To Sound Like Sir Boring Old Fart Here But...

Is it just me or are we striving for a new low lately?

I mean I understand that American culture has always flirted with the edges of “taste” and “decency” while at the same time behaving with a sense of self righteous judgmentalism that would have made our Puritan forezealots proud. But in the last few days I have seen the more extreme ends of both and I can't say that I like what I see.

The One About Let Me Be Sure I Read This Right.

I stand (virtually) before you, with a confession to make to you my loyal reader(s?). I am an idiot. No, not just an idiot. I am the king of the idiots. I have been following politics closely for coming upon a year in a few more months. I should know better by now. All the naiveté should have been driven from my body like a flu bug fleeing a drug. But nope, I had to go, and think to myself that I had seen all the selfish stupidity and quisling cowardice that Congress had to offer. And then I see something like this that not only proves me wrong, but reminds me how stupid it is to think that there is any depth to which some if not most politicians will sink.

The One About Even A Broken Clock Is Right Twice A Day.

So, out of a clear blue sky, comes the news that Rush Limbaugh had been hoping to invest in the St. Louis Rams, and was turned down by the NFL for one or two off the cuff comments that he might have made in the past, that some people were choosing to interpret in a negative fashion. Poor, poor, innocent Rush.

The One About A Real American Hero!

It is said that every generation thinks they are the first to discover sex, drugs, and rebellion, and there is a lot of truth to that saying. I would suggest that another thing that could be added to the list is the idea that all people are deserving of equality regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation. It is so tempting to assume that anyone over a certain age must not really be as open minded as the rest of us. Especially when that person is white, male, hetero, Christian, and a Republican. But sometimes you get reminded that being any of those things is no barrier to being a decent person who believes, truly believes in equality for all.

The One About Am I The Only One Who's Missing What The Confusion Is About?

Sometimes, the things I come across in my searchings of the news really do make me wonder if the people in Washington, both Republicant and Dumocrat, haven't taken massive leave of their good senses. Recently I came across an article by George Will in Newsweek, that at first had me baffled because it lacks Mr. Will's usual, deeply slanted, and almost subtle attacks of anything that smacks of Liberalism.

The One About I Don't Think They're Giving Obama A Nobel Peace Prize Because He "Deserves" It.

Having been off the grid for the last couple of weeks, I was more than a little surprised when I saw the headline about President Obama being named as a recipient for a Nobel Peace Prize. As I was leafing through the most recent issue of Newsweek I skimmed an article discussing the reasons why the author thinks that Obama doesn't deserve the prize. There are, of course, others who are just thrilled with this development.

The One About Why I Don't Like George F. Will.

Well I'm a little bit further along on my quest for a return to net normality. I don't have it at the house yet but the library just blocks from my house does and I can get wi fi there. They're only open from 10-5, but hey it beats the big bunch of nothing I've had for the past week. So as I was looking around at the last few issues of Newsweek, and doing a quick scan of the internets I came across an interesting article written by George F. Will. As I was getting ready to condemn him for what seems to me a gutless and fence sitting stance, I realized that such an article would make at least the third time that I have based a writing of mine on something of Mr. Will's, with an unfavorable take. Well second unfavorable, one was my astonishment that I actually agreed with him about much of anything. As I was preparing the article in my head I realized that any regular reader of this blog would probably come to realize that I do not think much of Mr. Will, or most of his opinions.

The One About My Texas Oddysey Part Three It's A Whole New State But The Same Old Me.

You know, I think Kermit the Frog said it best when he said, “Jesus Christ, am I tired of picking pig hairs out of my teeth.”

Okay, okay, he really didn't say that. However as he was known to say a time or two, “Moving right along.”
